چکیده

Introduction Growing evidence suggests that elevated plasma levels of total homocysteine (tHcy) are associated not only with arterial thrombosis and atherosclerosis but also with venous thrombosis [ 1,2]. tHcy levels appear to be related to oestrogen status. Premenopausal women have lower levels than postmenopausal women and men. In addition, plasma tHcy has been reported to decrease in pregnancy, in postmenopausal women on hormone-replacement therapy and during the high hormone phase in women taking oestrogen-containing contraceptives (for references see [3]).

Effect of aerobic moderate exercise intensity on plasma and aorta homocysteine and 15-F21-isoprostane concentrations in high cholesterol diet-induced atherosclerosis.

Few studies have investigated the effect of exercise on homocysteine and 15-F21-isoprostane in animal models. The present study was designed to examine the effect of long-term exercise and/ or high cholesterol diet on MDA, 15-F21-isoprostane and total homocysteine in the aorta and plasma of rabbits. Methods: 56 male rabbits were divided into four groups: normal diet (control), normal diet wi...

تأثیر مکمل سازی طولانی‌مدت کراتین در تمرین شنای استقامتی بر سطوح هموسیستئین پلاسما و عوامل خطرساز لیپیدی موش های صحرایی

Background and Aim: Homocysteine (HCY) is an independent risk factor for the development of cardiovascular disease. Since Creatine synthesis in the liver accounts for nearly 70% of daily homocysteine formation, creatine supplementation might inhibit Hcy production. The present study investigated the effects of creatine supplementation in endurance training on Hcy levels and lipid risk factors. ...
